Please find here information from the Rochester Federal Subcontracting Initiative. This program, started by Javelin, WXXI Public Broadcasting Council and Thales Optem (now Qioptiq) was formed to assist regional small businesses in gaining access to large federal prime contractors, government agencies, national labs and others involved in federal procurement.

We've combined all of the resources from that site onto this page to make it easier to download information from past sessions. Hopefully we'll schedule new sessions of RFSI. In the mean time, please be sure to bookmark this page and check back for additional information.

Looking for Federal Subcontracting Opportunities?

Then be sure to check out the Small Business Administration's SUB-Net website. This site exists to make small businesses aware of available subcontracting opportunties with federal primes. Visit www.sba.gov/subnet/ for more information and to search current opportunities. Also, be sure to visit the Central Contractor Registration site at www.ccr.gov. In order to conduct most business with the federal government, you must be registered with CCR. For example, in order to be assigned a Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code, you must first be registered with CCR. (CAGE numbers are used by many purchasing activities to indentify the firms with which they do business.) In addition to these site, be sure to read up on each federal agency. For example, for a handbook on working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), visit the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logisitics or ACQWEB.
